Supporting Military Families in Utah

Kent's Market marked Armed Forces Day with its annual Meals for Military event. Augason Farms took part alongside dozens of vendor partners.

The event ran on May 16 in Plain City, Utah. It brought together volunteers, local businesses, and national brands to support military families near Hill Air Force Base.

A Growing Tradition

Kent's Market hosts the event in partnership with Operation Homefront and Associated Food Stores. The program started small. It launched in 2021 with 50 families and two bags of groceries. It has grown every year since.

This year the event served more than 400 military families. Many are lower-income service members stationed nearby.

How the Event Worked

Volunteers greeted families from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each family drove through and had their vehicle loaded with donated goods.

Families received:

  • Bags of groceries
  • Household essentials
  • Fresh produce
  • Gift cards

Kent's also served a barbecue meal. Families entered prize drawings for sporting goods, camping gear, and outdoor equipment.

The Numbers Behind the Event

The 2026 event drew significant support. More than 225 volunteers took part. Kent's donated roughly $30,000 in labor, $30,000 in groceries, and $15,000 in cash to Operation Homefront.

Volunteers came from Operation Homefront, Hill Air Force Base, Associated Food Stores, and more than 25 vendor partners, including Augason Farms.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity hits military families hard. Operation Homefront reports that one in four junior enlisted families face it.

Kent's President and CEO Jon Fawson noted that more than 800 military members deploy from Hill Air Force Base. He described the event as a way to give back to families who sacrifice during that time.

Operation Homefront has recognized the Kent's program as best in class nationally. The nonprofit partners exclusively with Kent's and Associated Food Stores in Utah.

Standing With Our Community

Augason Farms was proud to join this year's Meals for Military event. Supporting families in our home state reflects the values behind our work. Preparedness and community go together.
