Do You Have Enough Water?

As a rule of thumb, experts recommend that you store a minimum of one gallon of water per person per day. That’s two quarts for drinking and two quarts for cooking and hygiene. A family of four should store approximately 12 gallons of water for a 72-hour emergency or 28 gallons for a seven-day emergency.

Don't Leave Water to Chance

Water sources can become tainted when exposed to toxins from floodwaters or fire residue, among other common infiltrators. If you're not sure where you can get clean water availability in an emergency, this Water Treatment and Storage Kit is critical to the well-being of you and your family.

Remember Water for Food Prep

Most emergency food requires water to prepare, yet water is the most overlooked emergency supply. As a reference, our 30-Day Emergency Food Supply requires about 14 gallons of water to prepare the meals. That's for one person and does not include the water needed for drinking and basic hygiene.

Water Storage Tips

When storing water barrels, it is recommended that barrels are not stored directly on cement or in constant sunlight, nor that the water be allowed to freeze. It is also recommended that barrels be stored no more than two barrels high for safety purposes.
